The word Bulan is of Malay-Bahasan origin and means “moon”
It is still widely-retained in parts of the Visayas region of the Philippines, and is the origin of the Tagalog word for moon which is “buwan” as well as the local Siargaonon word “buyan.”
We’ve named our abode as such for the simple reason that life in Siargao Island revolves around the moon
Livelihood and past-times are dictated by its seven phases. As if transported to a place and time in which the hours of the clock serve lesser importance to the day to day; life slows down, becomes more simple, and yet more meaningful at the same time.
We invite you to experience this humble, yet immensely soulful and grounding way of living in which nature in its raw majesty embraces our everyday lives.
About the property
Bulan Villas is a boutique bed & breakfast, located in the center of General Luna town, Siargao Island. Our villas are inspired by traditional Siargao architecture: each one is built with indigenous materials such as wood for the floors and furnishings, as well as “nipa” leaves for the thatched roof. Our restaurant serves continental options for breakfast, and authentic Italian Napolitana style pizza for dinner. We also have a carefully curated selection of wine from Sicily.
Our Neighborhood
We are located along the main “Tourism Road,” right in the center of General Luna. Getting around General Luna is best on a scooter or motorbike, bicycle, or by foot.
10 minutes by foot you have an access path to the beach
15 minutes by foot you have restaurants, bars, and shops
10 minute motorbike ride to surf spots such as Cloud 9 and more
Boat pick up and drop off point for island hopping tours is just 15 minutes away by motorbike
Please be mindful
If you are traveling with children 12 years old and below, please send us a message so we can explain a few safety concerns or potential hazards. Unfortunately we do not have baby cribs or cots in our rooms
To respect the space and peace of fellow guests please keep the noise down in your rooms and common spaces after 11:00 PM.
We have 3 dogs and 2 cats that are very friendly and fully-vaccinated living in our garden and staff house. This might be a concern for people with allergic reactions to animal hairs.
As smoking or vaping is prohibited in public spaces in the Philippines, we do not allow this within the entire property (garden, pool area, restaurant, and rooms).
We encourage all guests to avoid buying plastic water bottles and instead bring their own reusable bottle and use our water refilling station.
The use and sale of plastic bags is prohibited in Siargao Island so we also encourage all guests to bring something to contain their wet clothes.
